Everything happens for a reason. Everybody says so, right? Universal Irony Division: Only if you give it a reason. There’s a human desire that creates a bias in the mind that wants to associate something with a reason for that happening. The truth is, it doesn’t have to have a reason.

Whatever reason anything has is the reason you give it.

What if instead, you could accept things as they are without assigning such meaning? What if shit happens for no reason at all? I know, right? Kinda hard to get your head wrapped around that if we’re so used to hearing that everything happens for a reason. It’s just a widely accepted belief used to calm you down when something bad happens (because people might be uncomfortable with your uncomfortableness). Then that creates expectations for something better to happen. It creates attachment to an outcome. Then that creates disappointment if it doesn’t happen. It creates a complex equivalence tying the meaning you give to what happened to something else that may or may not happen. Then you start to believe that this thing happening has something to do with another thing happening. But it doesn’t! It doesn’t mean anything. And there’s not always a reason.

Shit happens.

Let it go.

That is all.
