Just the fact that a planet collided with ours, wiping out all life on Earth, yet there’s life flourishing now, is a miracle. Be grateful just to be alive! Because what followed that dark period was the birth of our Moon and the reseeding of life’s building blocks with water, both from comets and from within the Earth’s own mantle. That’s how it became possible for us to be here. It only took 4.5 billion years…
If all that can happen to us, and we still came out alright, then that says a lot about how the universe supports life.
Humans only think we haven’t found life when we find another Earth-like planet. But that might only be because we can only see that planet’s past. Because the speed of light limits perception, we only see a still frame of another planet in its past. Just imagine if someone’s looking at Earth and they see the Theia collision. They’d write off our planet as uninhabitable. Doesn’t mean it is. The truth is, life is everywhere.
How many times have we judged something only by what we could perceive at that time? What else is there that we simply didn’t see, hear, or feel yet?
Miracles. That’s what.
Like you.
