Universal Irony Division: There’s a huge difference between being comfortable and being in a comfort zone. You can be comfortable with someone you love, or as a friend, and be completely safe, secure, and trusting. Being comfortable might mean that you know someone on a deep soul level and you are completely free to do anything. You can be yourself. You can be silly and playful. You can also be messy and emotional and that’s perfect because you’re being real. But being in a comfort zone means you’ve limited yourself to the manufactured parameters of your box. Life becomes routine and predictable. Social conditioning sets in and you hypnotize yourself with your own behavior. Your language and physiology will reflect this too, creating a self-fulfilling prophecy of holding yourself inside the comfort zone. Maybe, just maybe, when you find the one(s) you’re most comfortable with, you’ll leave that comfort zone behind and never look back. Do that.
